The Walther PPK/S Recall Process – Longer Than Expected
August 4th, 2009 by Harry
I just received a letter from Smith & Wesson that stated the return time for the Walther PPK/S recall repair is going to be 8 weeks. This is longer than the original 4-6 time period that I was hoping for. Hopefully the delay will be no longer. Time will tell.
Please feel free to take a look at the letter here Walther Delay PPK Recall

I sent my PPK/S as soon as i got my letter from S/W it took about 8 weeks to get my gun back. I kept checking on it and they say its a 2 month wait because they received to many guns at once.

Hello and welcome to Waltherppks.com Chris. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. I was hoping with the additional work shift that was added the return would have been faster than 8 weeks. It appears that Smith & Wesson is a tad bit overwhelmed. Did the factory polish the ramp as well as perform the recall repair?

Yes they did polish the ramp. Make sure you tell the UPS driver there is a gun in the box your sending. This way you don’t lose your gun.

Chris makes a good point that I may not have mentioned specifically in a prior post. You must tell the UPS driver that the package heading to Smith & Wesson is a firearm. The driver will place the package in a special area for this type of shipment. My driver knew it was a gun by reading the address label and asked me before I even had a chance to tell him. Thanks for your input Chris.
